Pharmacy Technician

The vision of Spectrum Healthcare Training Center Pharmacy Technician program is to identify and train individual with great potential and dedication required to succeed in the fast growing field of pharmacy. Our impressive curriculum , team of dedicated and experienced teachers and friendly learning environment are the heart of our program. Our well rounded program requires classroom and laboratory work in a variety of areas such as Essentials of pharmacology, Pharmacy Practice, Pharmacy terminology, Pharmaceutical calculations, Pharmacy recordkeeping, Pharmacy law and ethics, Medication administration and distribution and strong interpersonal communication and externship curriculum. Graduate of this certificate program will be ready to sit and pass the National Pharmacy Technician Certification examination (CPHT).


Certified Pharmacy technician position is a great place to start if you are interested in having a career in the pharmaceutical industry. Starting as a certified Pharmacy technician gives you the type of background training that would be necessary to become a Pharmacist or work elsewhere in the Pharmaceutical industries.


According to U.S Department of Labor, Bureau of labor statistics, good job opportunities are expected for full- time and part time work for certified Pharmacy technicians. The job openings for certified Pharmacy Technicians will result from the expansion of retail pharmacies and other employment settings and from the need to replace worker who transfer to other occupations or leave the labor force. The increased number of middle aged and elderly people who, on average use more prescription drugs than do younger people will spur demand for certified technicians in all practice settings. Cost conscious insurers, Pharmacies, and health systems will continue to emphasize the role of technicians. As a result Certified Pharmacy technicians will assume responsibility of more routine tasks previously performed by Pharmacists.

Where will I find work when I graduate from the program?

Graduates will be able to find work in retail pharmacies, hospitals, Mail order and Internet Pharmacies, Clinics, Pharmaceutical wholesalers, and the Federal Government.

What is the working condition of a certified Pharmacy Technician?

Certified Pharmacy Technicians work in clean, organized, well-lighted, and well-ventilated areas. Certified Technicians work the same hours that pharmacists work.

These may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Because some hospital and retail pharmacies are open 24 hours a day, technicians may work varying shifts. As their seniority increases, technicians often have increased control over the hours they work. There are many opportunities for part-time work in both retail and hospital settings.

What qualification do I need to be admitted into the program?

Eligible candidates must have high school diploma or GED and no felony conviction.

This is 32 weeks program for day class and 40 weeks for evening class.
