
A Nurse Aide Technician is a caregiver who is trained to work in the laboratory as well as personal care environments. This eight-week training program will prepare students in the field of phlebotomy in which they will learn the technique of blood drawing, collection of specimen, and the preservation of these specimen as well mastering the operation and monitoring of cardiovascular machines (EKG). They will also be trained as personal caregivers (nurse aides and home health aides). In this aspect of training, the students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the activities of daily living of the patients while, at the same time, being mindful of the privacy of the patients.
Employment Opportunities
The Nurse Aide Technician program presents the graduates of this curriculum with ample entry-level employment opportunities in the clinical laboratories, hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and private homes as a phlebotomist, Nurse Aide, EKG Technician, and Home Health Aide. These individuals will not lack job opportunities because of their unique training. They are multiskilled and, as such, will be utilized for different tasks by these facilities.

Courses Outline
The Nurse Aide Technician curriculum will cover the following topics:
Introduction to Phlebotomy, Phlebotomy Role in Health Care, Safety in Phlebotomy, Phlebotomy Equipment, Phlebotomy Technique, the Challenges of Phlebotomy, Specimen Considerations and Special Procedures, Customer Service in Phlebotomy, Legal Compliance in Phlebotomy Service, Proving Competency in Phlebotomy, Principle of the Cardiovascular System, the Normal Electrocardiogram, Lead Systems, Identifying Rhythms, Acquiring the ECG, Quality Assurance and Continuous Quality Improvement, Aging and Development, Residents’ Right, Safety, Activities of Daily Living, the Residents’ Room, Observing & Reporting, Talking and Listening, Infection Control, Nutrition and Hydration, Mental Health of Residents, Taking Care of Yourself, Care of the Dying Resident, Home Health Care, and Twenty One Hours of Clinical Rotation in a Long Term Care Facility.
Certification
Students who successfully complete the Nurse Aide Technician program will receive a separate Certificate of Completion for Nurse Aide Technician, Certificate of Completion for Nurse Aide Training, Certificate of Completion for Phlebotomy, Certificate of Completion for Home Health Aide Training, and Certificate of Completion for EKG Training. Graduates with a Certificate of Completion in Nurse Aide Training will be qualified to sit for the State Exam for Nurse Aides.
Spectrum Health Care Training Center does not promise nor guarantees students of any job placement upon graduation. However, the school will work with long-term care facilities , home healthcare agencies Hospitals and Laboratories with the hope of achieving that goal.
TUITION AND FEES: Tuition for the program is $3000.00. The cost of books is estimated at $150.00.
ATTENDANCE:
This is practical oriented program . Students are encouraged to be punctual and attend all classes. Student who is absent from class during the practical will not continue with the class
rather the student will be encouraged to register with the next class or the students’ fees will be
refunded according to the school refund policy.
HOURS OF OPERATION: 9 am to 5 pm
The school observes all Federal and state holidays.
