Description

The Medical Assistant is an integral member of the health care delivery team, qualified by education and experience to work in the administrative office, the examining room, and the physician office laboratory. The Medical Assistant, also a liaison between the doctor and the patient, is of vital importance to the success of the medical practice. Medical Assistants perform varieties of duties which range from filling out insurance forms, coding the patients’ medical information, and assisting to buy and store supplies and equipment for the office. They may also perform basic laboratory tests, dispose of contaminated supplies, sterilize medical instruments, instructing patients about medication or special diets, preparing patients for x-rays, removing stitches, drawing blood, and changing dressings.

Spectrum Healthcare Training Center’s Medical Assistant program is designed to cover the following topics: Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Law and Ethics, Office Procedures, Interpersonal Communication for Allied Health, medical Insurance, Clinical Procedures, laboratory Procedures, Medical Terminology, Pharmacology, and Keyboarding. This program is taught in both classroom and clinical environments. Students who successfully complete these program will be awarded their certificate of completion.

Attendance

This is an intensive program and there is no room for frequent lateness or absence. Students are encouraged to be punctual and attend all classes. Any student that is late or absent from class for more than two days will be removed from the class. Rather, the student will be encouraged to register with the next class or the students’ fees will be refunded according to our refund policy. Absences and make-ups are not allowed during clinical.

Tuition

The tuition for this program is $10,000.00 and the cost of books is estimated at $300.00. Students must be up to date with their tuition before or by the first day of class. Those who are not be able to do so have the option to select a payment plan.

This is a 47-week program that meets Monday through Friday, between 8am to 2pm for day class and 4pm to 10pm for evening class.
